Approved Courses     (Please see NOTE 2 below)

The courses and campuses listed in the links shown below have been assessed by the AIWCW Membership Assessment Panel and have been accredited/approved as being appropriate for the admission of membership to the AIWCW.  As such, overseas graduates from these courses are also eligible for assessment as welfare workers under the skilled migration scheme.

Some courses and campuses have had a name change over the years, but this does not affect their accreditation/approval.

Courses currently being taught and which have AIWCW approval are indicated by an appropriate expiry year in the column headed "Apr To".  Approvals are generally granted in periods of three years at a time.  If you commence an approved course before its expiry date, the qualification will be recognised upon graduation, providing the course  is delivered in accordance with the approval requirements - including at least 400 hours of practical field work (in at least two placements) being completed and assessed by the qualification provider as part of the course.

Application forms and information about the Campus Approval process and other general information about courses can be obtained from the AIWCW National Office.  The brief requirements for a course to be approved include:-

·          an application is made by the educational institution to have the qualification and campus approved by the AIWCW

·          appropriately qualified people are teaching the units

·          adequate library and resource facilities are provided

·          the qualifications being taught include at least the minimum requirement for the AIWCW endorsed and nationally recognised AQF Diplomas in the CHC002 Community Services Training Package.  CLICK HERE for a brief outline of the content of an AIWCW approved qualification

·          at least 400 hours of practical Field Placement (in at least two placements) are included and assessed as part of the course.

NOTE 1:   If you are enquiring about a course in which to enrol as a new student, you should look at the “Campus/Courses Available for New and Currently Enrolled Students” link.

NOTE 2:  It  is  highly  recommended  that  you  do  not  enrol  at  a  College/campus/course  before  it  has  AIWCW  approval.    You  will  be  disappointed  if  you  require  an  assessment  for  migration  purposes  and  the  course  is  not  approved.    We  can  only  give  positive  assessments  based  on  obtaining  an  Australian  qualification  if  the  course  is  approved  by  the  AIWCW.    If  you  do  graduate  from  a  course  which  does  not  have  AIWCW  approval  you  may  be  eligible  for  an  assessment  if  you  meet  the  requirements  for  the  AIWCW  Pathway  B  competency  based  criteria.    Please  refer  to  the  ASSESSMENT  FOR  MIGRATION  Section  and  the  document  titled  CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS for  what  is  required  in  relation  to  a  Pathway  B  assessment.
