IMPORTANT NOTICE IN RELATION TO EVIDENCE OF YOUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

(to be read in conjunction with the above)

THIS APPLIES TO ALL APPLICATIONS FOR ASSESSMENT RECEIVED ON OR AFTER 01 February 2010

1.  If you meet the “Transitional Arrangements” requirements you will need to provide certified copies of appropriate evidence to indicate that you signed an agreement before 31 July 2008 to study the AIWCW approved course in Australia.

2.  If you are claiming an “Exemption” then you will need to provide a certified copy of your “bio” page from your Passport which indicates that the Passport was issued in Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States of America, Canada or New Zealand.  If you are not the holder of a Passport from one of these countries, but have completed at least 10 years of formal schooling in one of these countries, you will need to provide substantiated and certified evidence of having completed this schooling in one of these countries.

3.  If you do not come within the provisions of 1. or 2. above, then the following applies :-

(1) provide certified evidence of having met the requirement of at least a 7.0 for each language component (reading,                writing, speaking and listening) in the IELTS testing system. (a certified - or original copy, of your IELTS Test Report would be appropriate evidence.)

(2)  as indicated in the ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR WELFARE WORKERS the score of 7.0 for each language component (reading, writing, speaking and listening) may be obtained at any test session over a period of 12 months.  This may apply even if scores in some components at a particular test are lower than 7.0.  As soon as a score of 7.0 is obtained for all four components within a period of 12 months, these satisfactory scores are valid for a period of two years there after.    (Note: if you have not achieved 7.0 in all four components 12 months after you achieved your first 7.0, then any result over 12 months old lapses and you will need to sit and obtain 7.0 for that component again.

(3)  the IELTS test can be conducted in the general or academic form until 01 February 2012.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPICATION FOR ASSESSMENT UNLESS YOU CAN COMPLY WITH ONE OF THE THREE OPTIONS LISTED ABOVE.   IF YOU DO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS DETERMINES THAT YOU DO NOT MEET THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT, YOUR ASSESSMENT WILL BE ISSUED AS “NOT SUITABLE” AND WE WILL BE UNABLE TO REFUND YOUR APPLICATION FEE.  IF A “NOT SUITABLE” ASSESSMENT IS MADE YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE A NEW APPLICATION AND PAY ANOTHER ASSESSMENT FEE WHEN YOU CAN MEET THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT.
